The recently launched MG Windsor became India’s highest-selling passenger electric vehicle in October 2024. MG Motors has stated that 3,116 units of the EV were sold last month, accounting for 30% of the total passenger EVs sold last month. The Windsor knocks down the Tata Nexon, which, until now, has been the highest-selling passenger EV in our country. MG Motors sold 7,045 units in October 2024, witnessing a jump of 31% compared to its sales in October 2023. Besides the Windsor EV, MG’s portfolio in India includes the Astor, Hector, Gloster, ZS EV, and Comet EV.
MG has recently launched the Windsor EV in India. The compact electric vehicle retails at a starting price of Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), and prices go up to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec trim. The Windsor has a 38 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge. The compact EV comes with a single electric motor mounted on the front wheels. It produces 136 hp and 200 Nm of peak torque.
Windsor’s battery pack supports fast charging at a 45 kW peak rate. This will juice its battery from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes. If connected to a 3.3 kW charger, 0 to 100 percent will take 14 hours. A 7.7 kW charger will do the job in 6.5 hours. If you want, you can buy the Windsor with a subscription for the battery pack. This lowers the base price of the EV to 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). MG will then charge you Rs 3.5 per km with its Battery-As-A-Service program.
